Pedro De La Hoya is a character in Bully, and is a young Non-Clique Student at Bullworth Academy. He was voiced by Daniel Tay.

Character description[]

Pedro is a small boy with black hair. He wears the usual dark teal sweater of the non-clique students, above-the-knee khaki shorts, has a band-aid on his right knee, and wears long white socks and red sneakers on his feet. Under his sweater, there is a white shirt and a striped yellow and black tie. In the winter, he wears long khakis, a long-sleeved version of the usual sweater, grey mittens, a striped grey and black scarf, brown winter boots, and a grey puffball hat.

There is also an unused model for Pedro wearing green pajamas with multiple orange paws being printed on them. Presumably it was to appear in the Boys' Dorm in the morning or after curfew, before the game was programmed to not spawn the little boys in the dorm, as no authority figures appear inside, therefore they could be bullied without facing any consequences.

Although Pedro is Hispanic, he speaks unaccented American English. There are very few Hispanic characters in the game, and it is possible that Pedro was changed for that reason. On the Bully Facebook, an image shows an earlier version of Pedro with lighter hair, freckles, and a blue sweater vest the same color as Jimmy's.

Characteristics[]

Pedro is the smallest student in the entire school. He's almost as attached to his mother as Algie is, although it is slightly hinted that the reason he's at Bullworth is because his mother wanted to "cut the apron strings a bit", or have him become more independent. He regularly comments on how much he misses his mom, and is constantly upset that she can't be everywhere he is.

Because of his small size and meek disposition, he's an easy target for the Bullies. He seems to be easy to push around, suffers from homesickness, and wets his bed due to fear of being bullied. He is also extremely paranoid. He feels everyone is out to get him, and no matter where he hides, someone will find him and kill him.

He appears to look up to Jimmy as a role model, indicated by his dialogue: "I wanna be like you when I get to be a big kid". In addition, he frequently addresses Jimmy as "sir".

Role in game[]

Pedro doesn't have a large role, but he's a fairly noticeable presence on campus. During the start of the game, he can be seen being chased around campus by Troy. Also, in Chapter 1, he is caught in a bathroom stall with Eunice for reasons better left unknown; they run and hide in the Biology classroom. He also leaves a message on the notice board asking Russell not to hurt him.

He gives Jimmy three errands. In one, he asks Jimmy to stuff students into trash cans, displaying a somewhat bratty side to his normally meek and terrified personality. The other two involve urging Jimmy to explore the shipwreck in the bay in Old Bullworth Vale, and then the island located in the inlet to the south of Old Bullworth Vale.

He is the only little kid present during Halloween. He dresses up as a mummy, and gives Jimmy an errand of planting a kick me sign on another student. Although the Prefects are not present, harming him (or any of the girls) will make them appear.

Like the other Little Kids and Constantinos, Pedro will snitch on Jimmy or any student that causes trouble.

Pedro has two appearances in the content exclusive to Scholarship Edition and later editions. He appears in the background of the mission Nutcrackin' , where he and Melody are dressed up as flowers for the Christmas pageant. He then appears as one of the Generic Kids in the mission Rudy the Red Nosed Santa. He is the first child Rudy talks to. His personality is completely different - he screams in anger, threatens Rudy, and demands a skateboard with flaming skull decals on it.

Deleted content[]

There is some unused content found within the game files when it comes to Pedro's appearances within the game.

He was initially meant to appear in the mission Movie Tickets, which at one point was drastically different from what is actually featured within the game. It involved many more characters who were waiting in a line at the theater in Bullworth Town (which is closed down in the final game). One of them was Dorsey. In order for him to leave the line, Jimmy had to fetch him some flowers for his girlfriend. Jimmy went all the way to the graveyard at the church in Old Bullworth Vale, where Pedro would allegedly be attending the funeral of at least one of his parents[1]. He is accompanied by Miss Danvers, who coldly dismisses his grief[2]. Jimmy would sneak away with the flowers put on the grave of Pedro's kin. Handy would also be there, and would be bothered because he is usually the one to make off with the flowers from the graveyard[3]. It is presumed that Bully was initially meant to be a game with a darker tone, and such content may have been removed so as not to harm the T rating that was in the end given to the game.

Moreover, he originally appeared in the beta version of Complete Mayhem, where he and Sheldon would be taking a walk around Blue Skies Industrial Park, only to be scared off by Russell later on.

Pedro was also supposed to hand out a few more errands than he does in the final game. In one of them, he asks Jimmy to trash the Harrington House because he does not like rich people. In another one, he encourages Jimmy to smash up gravestones (which is quite odd, considering what he supposedly goes through). In the third one, he asks Jimmy to beat Casey's locker stuffing record. This final errand is actually given out by Casey himself in the final game.
